Weapons

  • Pistol over Shield - better damage in exchange for lower sustain. If however you don't have the Secrets of the Obscure expansion to unlock Weaponmaster Training, you'll have to play with Pistol or even Torch.
  • Sword over Dagger - more defensive option with better mobility, but the build becomes a lot more melee focused with this.

Equipment Variants

Sigils

Spear

If you can afford to give up some survivability for better bursts, take the following sigils:

  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Rage - the Quickness Quickness makes it easier to land Mind the Gap.
  • Sigil of Superior Sigil of Hydromancy - the sigil itself can do a lot of damage, but one of the main reasons for taking this is that it can instantly proc Sigil of Rage (if you hit something in melee with the weapon swap).

Relics

  • Relic of Fireworks - this will increase your damage, but gives up a mobility boost for it, which makes it harder to stick to targets on Spear or disengage in general.

Consumables

Food

  • - great offensive stats and some direct damage mitigation.
    • - a bit more defensive but equally viable option.
  • - highest damage option, no damage mitigation but the life steal procs still provide some sustain.
  • - this food provides some defense against condition damage without sacrificing damage.
  • - active damage mitigation via more frequent access to dodging, and the Might Might generation has synergy with various traits.
    • Budget version:
  • or - cheap precision bump and armor ignoring damage procs that also heal you.

Utility

  • or .

It's definitely a 5 rn, it's high in everything. Damage and survival are both exceptional, and the burst is AoE! Which is a huge plus while outnumbered. Condis can be tough but not impossible with practice. Very chill and easy lil build too for a power mes.

This build is way too predictable and avoidable to deserve a 5 star rating. Also it has no sustain and only average mobility.

With the current setup we can do unblockable shatter for 10k+ damage combined with 5-6k Mind the Gaps, which can basically oneshot some specs. I could see this being a 4 instead of a 5 especially while outnumbered, but in 1v1s or group roaming this can be really strong. Rather squishy at times and doesn't handle conditions too well, but in terms of burst it's one of the best builds out there, and Virtuoso has some inherent tankiness to it which helps (mainly the Aegis sources). Harder to play than a spec like Willbender but it pays off.
