Condi Herald is a powerful generalist for open world with absurdly high defense and decent DPS. It can perform a variety of roles but works best on its own or with small groups.

Condi Herald shines as a boon dps, providing their allies and themselves with permanent boons, most notably permanent 25 {{Tooltip|Might}} and permanent {{Tooltip|Fury}} and {{Tooltip|Quickness}}. It deals decent damage and has some innate sustain, but requires the player to be constantly swapping legends to regenerate energy.

===Weapon Variants===
* Sword (offhand) - applies considerable vuln and has a teleport; good for trash mobs
+
Usage of {{Tooltip|spear}} requires Janthir Wilds. If you don't have access to spear, use {{Tooltip|mace}}+{{tooltip|mace}} and {{tooltip|axe}} instead.

===Legend Variants===

Herald is a very versatile class with a swiss-army-knife style skill set. You should swap legends according to the situation.

* {{Skill|Legendary Demon Stance}} - The best choice for condi-heavy variants. This is required for the {{Rune|Superior Rune of Tormenting}} variant to work.

* {{Skill|Legendary Dragon Stance}} - The strongest hybrid option; provides boon support and burst damage

* {{Skill|Legendary Centaur Stance}} - Provides condi clear, projectile hate, and very high healing.

* {{Skill|Legendary Assassin Stance}} - The strongest strike-based legend.

* {{Skill|Legendary Dwarf Stance}} - Provide large amounts of defense and CC.

If you are gearing this character from zero, start with '''exotic quality gear'''. Search the trading post for "Viper's Abomination" weapons. Viper exotic armor is very expensive, so we recommend a budget alternative called Carrion (search the trading post for "Shiro" armor) until you can get Viper gear such as by farming Bladed armor or by acquiring ascended armor. Upgrade to Viper and ascended as you progress. See also: [[Guide:How to Gear a Character]].

===Legend Breakdown: Damage & General Use===
+
===Spear===
Two big pieces of general advice here:
+
The spear playstyle revolves around {{Skill|Abyssal Raze}}. Hitting targets with it empowers the next Abyssal Rage. Try to acquire 3 stacks of this buff before you weapon swap.
# Swap legends often, typically off cooldown.

# Try not to interrupt your auto-attack chain if possible.

Other than that, you can spam weapon skills and use your utilities appropriately as outlined below:
+
Spam {{Skill|Abyssal Force}} and {{Skill|Abyssal Blot}} for damage and to reduce the recharge of {{Skill|Abyssal Raze}}. Save {{Skill|Abyssal Blitz}} for whenever you need an extra dodge.

 +
===Legend Breakdown: Damage & General Use===
 +
Swap legends often, typically off cooldown and use your utilities appropriately as outlined below. Remember to maintain an energy upkeep of at least 6 pips to generate {{Tooltip|Quickness}} from {{Trait|Elevated Compassion}}.

====Glint====

====Glint====

{{Skill|Legendary Dragon Stance}}

{{Skill|Legendary Dragon Stance}}
:Glint offers a wide variety of options and is the go-to hybrid spec. You have to options while in Glint.

# Consume {{Skill|Facet of Elements}} and {{Skill|Facet of Chaos}} for damage and CC, then maintain {{Skill|Facet of Darkness}} and {{Skill|Facet of Strength}} for extended offensive boons.

# Consume all facets other than {{Skill|Facet of Light}} and {{Skill|Facet of Chaos}}, then maintain {{Skill|Facet of Chaos}} for Protection.

Either way, always consume any active Facets before legend swapping to trigger {{Trait|Draconic Echo}}.

====Shiro====

{{Skill|Legendary Assassin Stance}}

:Shiro is our power DPS legend and is incredibly simple to use. Turn on {{Skill|Impossible Odds}} until you run out of energy. Hit things.

====Jalis====

{{Skill|Legendary Dwarf Stance}}

:At first blush Jalis may not seem like much, but he's likely the most powerful legend in Rev's kit for most solo play. A few big things to note:

* {{Skill|Forced Engagement}} is a huge amount of CC

* {{Skill|Forced Engagement}} and {{Skill|Rite of the Great Dwarf}} provide a LOT of damage reduction.

* {{Skill|Vengeful Hammers}} deal decent damage and provide some healing

* {{Skill|Inspiring Reinforcement}} is a good stability source.

Generally with Jalis, you want to assess if the threat warrants a {{Skill|Rite of the Great Dwarf}}. If not, wear the target down with {{Skill|Vengeful Hammers}} and {{Skill|Forced Engagement}} (if it has a breakbar).

It should be noted that {{Skill|Facet of Nature}} is very powerful on Jalis.

 +
Glint provides a plethora of boons. Maintain {{Skill|Facet of Light}}, {{skill|Facet of Elements}}, {{skill|Facet of Strength}}, and {{skill|Facet of Darkness}}.

====Mallyx====

====Mallyx====

{{Skill|Legendary Demon Stance}}

{{Skill|Legendary Demon Stance}}
:Mallyx is our edgy spec and is the best option for heavy condition pressure, both in and out. As a bonus, it gets a phenomenal combo we'll talk about later that provides some of the highest sustain in the game.

While in Mallyx, it's often best to simply activate {{Skill|Embrace the Darkness}} and let it run out. You can use {{Skill|Pain Absorption}} to break stun or give yourself a break from conditions, and {{Skill|Call to Anguish}} is a short-range leap which can group enemies up for you to burst down.

If running {{Rune|Superior Rune of Tormenting}}, your {{Skill|Embrace the Darkness}} will heal you for absolutely absurd amounts of health. Seriously. No, like really. Just try it. Its hilarious, we promise.

====Ventari====

{{Skill|Legendary Centaur Stance}}

:Our old friend Ventari is the worst of the legends for general play but you'll be happy he's there when you really need him. Ventari has two major components to remember:

# {{Skill|Protective Solace}} is a long-duration, low-upkeep dome of projectile hate. This skill trivializes content that relies heavily on projectiles, such as Carin in Bastion of the Penitent or the Champion Commander Razorwing. It does eventually expire, but it lasts quite a long time. Try to conserve energy while its up so you don't run out too fast.

# {{Skill|Purifying Essence}} is a spammable condition cleanse in an AOE. This is fantastic for random open world zergs.

That's about it with Ventari. He's pretty straightforward.

 +
Maintain {{Skill|Embrace the Darkness}}. You can use {{Skill|Pain Absorption}} to break stun or give yourself a break from conditions, and {{Skill|Call to Anguish}} is a short-range leap which can group enemies up for you to burst down.

===Facet of Nature===

===Facet of Nature===
This ability is quite powerful depending on which legend you have active. In general, you should strive to keep {{Skill|Facet of Nature}} active during {{Skill|Legendary Assassin Stance}}, {{Skill|Legendary Dragon Stance}}, and {{Skill|Legendary Dwarf Stance}} due to the high healing and damage reduction it applies. Thanks to {{Trait|Draconic Echo}}, you can also consume it and keep the bonus for a short time.
+
{{Skill|Facet of Nature}} can be activated and consumed while in {{Skill|Legendary Dragon Stance}} to extend the duration of your boons and cleanse 3 conditions, or while in {{Skill|Legendary Demon Stance}} to transfer 2 conditions to nearby enemies and gain a bit of might.

* {{Skill|Legendary Assassin Stance}} - provides you lifesteal with a 0.5s ICD, allowing you to heal for roughly 160 hp/s.

* {{Skill|Legendary Dragon Stance}} - provides 20% boon duration; this can exceed the duration cap

* {{Skill|Legendary Dwarf Stance}} - 10% damage reduction while active

* {{Skill|Legendary Demon Stance}} - pulls conditions from allies to you; not recommended in open world

 +
Always consume this Facet, the passive bonuses are not needed and it consumes your energy which you need for other skills.

===Defense===

===Defense===
* Shield skills remove a condition on use.
+
* {{Skill|Facet of Light}} and {{Skill|Empowering Misery}} are your heal skills. Note that {{Skill|Facet of Light}} turns into {{Skill|Infuse Light}} which can be consumed to absorb all incoming damage should the need arise.
* {{Skill|Infuse Light}} and {{Skill|Empowering Misery}} are your heal skills.
+
* {{Skill|Pain Absorption}} is great for anti-condition pressure.
* {{Skill|Pain Absorption}} is great for anti-condition pressure.
+
* {{Skill|Gaze of Darkness}} and {{Skill|Pain Absorption}} are your stunbreaks.
* {{Skill|Crystal Hibernation}} is a very powerful heal.

* {{Trait|Hardening Persistence}} grants damage reduction based on current upkeep.

===Crowd Control===

===Crowd Control===

* {{Skill|Chaotic Release}}

* {{Skill|Chaotic Release}}
* {{Skill|Surge of the Mists}} if running staff offhand.

Condi Herald is one of the most versatile build options for solo open world play, featuring plenty of options to deal with virtually any problem you may encounter in the open world. It has very good damage when alone due to its heavy self-buffs and high base damage and also falls into the "Juggernaut" playstyle - That is, being a simple, effective build that has very high passive defenses while also featuring incredibly powerful active defenses. cHerald is my personal favorite build for tackling very hard content solo. It's easy to play and absolutely broken, even after the sustain nerfs.
