Overview

A power DPS build for Renegade featuring impressive burst that scales well with hitbox size, a fluid rotation and a small amount of incidental boon support and healing. It can also trade DPS for extra utility and sustain.

The melee requirement, fast pace and energy management can make it a somewhat difficult build to play on actual encounters, and it also loses not insignificant damage if forced to dodge. Energy on revenant in general, but especially on builds with Charged Mists can take some getting used to, but once you get comfortable with which skill costs how much energy and how that let's you reset your rotations and burst windows, you will become a lot more adaptable on actual encounters.

Utility
  • Players without Secrets of the Obscure should replace Greatsword with Hammer. This is also a strong option when ranged damage is useful.
  • You could also replace Greatsword with Staff for access to more CC, or just a simpler rotation.

  • On bosses that can be regularly stunned, Sigil of Superior Sigil of Impact will be better than Sigil of Superior Sigil of Air/Sigil of Superior Sigil of Hydromancy.
  • The optimal number of Dragon stats Dragon stats pieces will depend on how many infusions are used (the more infusions, the more Dragon stats Dragon stats pieces). Full Berserker stats Berserker stats is only a small DPS loss.
  • Relic of the Eagle less initial burst, traded for more damage below 50% boss health. Worse in bursty fights like fractals. Net equal on the golem.
  • Relic of Shackles has a 10-second internal cooldown, making timing of your skills key to maximising its effectiveness. If you are struggling (or don't own Visions of Eternity), use Relic of the Eagle instead.
  • In situations where sustain is more important than maximum damage, you can take Vindication over Lasting Legacy for a minor dps loss in exchange for great self sustain. If this is somehow still not enough sustain, you can also consider Relic of the Mist Stranger for even more self sustain at an additional cost of dps.

Utility

Usage

During the loops below, you want to cast Citadel Bombardment whenever it becomes available, without interrupting your auto attack chains or other weapon skills.

Greatsword Rotation

Start on Legendary Renegade Stance and Greatsword. You can pre-cast Enchanted Daggers for a bit of extra burst.

Opener

  1. Breakrazor's Bastion - pre-cast this if possible to gain the Band Together effect, otherwise skip it
  2. Eternity's Requiem
  3. Orders from Above to quickly spend energy
  4. Icerazor's Ire - If you pre-cast Breakrazor's Bastion this will be instant cast
  5. Legendary Assassin Stance
  6. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  7. Citadel Bombardment

Assassin/Sword Loop

If Citadel Bombardment doesn't come off cooldown during this section, use Orders from Above and an extra Chilling Isolation instead

  1. Chilling Isolation + Impossible Odds
  2. Shackling Wave
  3. Deathstrike
  4. Autoattack until you can legend swap
  5. Legendary Renegade Stance
  6. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Renegade/Greatsword Loop

If Citadel Bombardment doesn't come off cooldown during this section, use Orders from Above and Razorclaw's Rage instead (or Darkrazor's Daring if the utility is more desirable than damage)

  1. Icerazor's Ire
  2. Mist Unleashed
  3. Eternity's Requiem - on the first loop after the opener this won't be off cooldown, so use it after Phantom's Onslaught
  4. Phantom's Onslaught
  5. Mist Swing Mist Slash Arcing Mists
  6. Mist Unleashed
  7. Mist Swing Mist Slash Arcing Mists x2
  8. Mist Unleashed
  9. Phantom's Onslaught
  10. Icerazor's Ire
  11. Legendary Assassin Stance
  12. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap
  13. Return to start of Assassin/Sword Loop

Video Example: Power Renegade (Gs/SwSw) - 42.297 dps

Hammer Rotation

Start on Legendary Assassin Stance and Sword/Sword. You can pre-cast Enchanted Daggers for a bit of extra burst.

Opener

  1. Citadel Bombardment - pre-cast this if possible to gain the Band Together effect, otherwise skip it
  2. Impossible Odds
  3. Shackling Wave
  4. Legendary Renegade Stance
  5. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Renegade/Hammer Loop

If Citadel Bombardment will come off cooldown during this section, skip Razorclaw's Rage and Soulcleave's Summit.

  1. Coalescence of Ruin
  2. Icerazor's Ire
  3. Field of the Mists
  4. Razorclaw's Rage - this will be instant cast thanks to Icerazor's Ire
  5. Hammer Bolt x3
  6. Drop the Hammer - thanks to the delay, if you cast Coalescence of Ruin immediately after, the latter skill will hit before this and still get recharged
  7. Coalescence of Ruin
  8. Coalescence of Ruin
  9. Hammer Bolt x3
  10. Soulcleave's Summit
  11. Icerazor's Ire
  12. Coalescence of Ruin
  13. Legendary Assassin Stance
  14. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

Assassin/Sword Loop

If Citadel Bombardment will come off cooldown during this section, skip Orders from Above and both the later Chilling Isolations

  1. Chilling Isolation + Impossible Odds
  2. Orders from Above
  3. Deathstrike
  4. Shackling Wave
  5. Preparation Thrust Brutal Blade Rift Slash x2
  6. Chilling Isolation
  7. Preparation Thrust Brutal Blade Rift Slash x3
  8. Chilling Isolation
  9. Legendary Renegade Stance
  10. Weapon Swap Weapon Swap

General Usage

  • 23% of your crit chance comes from having full endurance (via Brutal Momentum), so try to avoid dodging if you can.
    • Both weapon sets have active defense - Unrelenting Assault on Sword and Imperial Guard on Greatsword.
  • Your most important DPS skills are Citadel Bombardment, Eternity's Requiem, Impossible Odds and Icerazor's Ire along with Shackling Wave and Deathstrike (on sword), and Mist Unleashed and Phantom's Onslaught (on greatsword) in this order of priority. If your dps window is small or coming to an end, try to fit as many of these skills in before the target phases.
  • When you're not casting skills make sure you're consistently auto-attacking the boss, being careful not to interrupt the chain as the damage is heavily back-loaded.
  • If using Sigil of Superior Sigil of Hydromancy it is important to legend swap before weapon swapping, as this will allow for the sigil to be triggered twice in one loop.

Break bars

Due to their large energy costs (or requirement to swap to staff) all of this build's CC options will result in a large drop-off in your DPS. However, they are all powerful AoE control effects so they can be used to rescue your group from dangerous situations and are well worth pressing once you get comfortable with resetting your burst windows.

  • Darkrazor's Daring outputs a large amount of breakbar damage after a noticeable delay, be aware that you have to stay within 600 units for the skill to function so you can't move away if cast at max range as well as casting it slightly ahead of a breakbar to account for the delay.
  • Jade Winds is less value than Darkrazor's Daring due to the large energy cost for relatively low CC output in comparison, but can still be useful given the correct situation.
  • Surge of the Mists (only if using Staff) is one of the strongest CC skills in the game. However be aware that this is only a last resort CC option, as it will reduce your damage enormously just to bring a staff at all, even if you never use it. If possible, step back from the target slightly before casting this to maximize the impacts that land on the boss. Be careful using this skill near the edges of platforms, such as on Xera or the final boss of the Chaos fractal as the forced movement can send you over the edge.

Good dps build that is sadly not quite up to current balance standards, but can nonetheless compete just fine. Access to group stability and good cc is always nice and barring the moving f3 casts the rotation actually flows very nicely. If not for having to manage energy well and the relatively speaking low benchmark, I would rate this even higher :P
