Equipment Variants
Runes
- - a more condition focused approach, trading direct damage and boon duration for better
Burning bursts on Spear.
Stats
- You could still play full
Celestial, it makes the build more forgiving, but it also trades a lot of offensive stats for defensive ones you already have enough of.
Consumables
Food
- - defensive option with , and synergy.
- - budget version.
- - defensive ascended choice with passive damage mitigation while also providing a decent amount of offensive stats.
Utility
Usage
General
- Every elixir skill (including toolbelt ones) can proc extra
Poison from .
- Using elixirs with a cast time in the middle of burst combos tends to be a DPS loss. Either build up some stacks beforehand or simply use your skills as intended without stressing over the procs, you'll still have good
Poison uptime without having to think about it too much. Think more about how you're going to consume the procs you end up with.
- Using elixirs with a cast time in the middle of burst combos tends to be a DPS loss. Either build up some stacks beforehand or simply use your skills as intended without stressing over the procs, you'll still have good
- Your elite skill can be used both defensively and offensively, although it's best saved as a defensive utility. Once there is too much pressure to handle use the from to
Stealth for long durations and quickly escape unfavourable situations. To consistently trigger , use any skill while having an active target within 500 range of the . It's recommended that you only use this skill offensively in desperate situations, as to not leave yourself vulnerable later on.
Damage
- Spear has a central mechanic called focus. Focused targets are more heavily affected by your Spear skills.
- You make someone your focus target by hitting them with . Using this as your opener is therefore recommended.
- Skill #3 should be activated as soon as you use Conduit Surge. It's an instant skill that does damage passively around you and being charging up its chain skill.
- Charging it up turns this skill into , a long range strike with
Immobilize, making it great at setting up burst.
- Charging it up turns this skill into , a long range strike with
- is primarily a setup skill too as it's a CC with not much else to it.
- is your primary burst skill on Spear. Try to land it on focused targets, preferably when they're CC'd so it doesn't miss.
- The toolbelt skill is your other big burst skill. Both this and Devastator are great at consuming Vass stacks too.
- Spam grenades when your Spear skill are on CC or if getting into melee would be too dangerous. Fill any downtime with grande spam, even if it's just the autoattack.
- skills ranked from most to least threatening:
- . Simple fire and forget skill with great damage.
- and . Poison Grenade does more damage over time and it's unblockable, which is important because you can even use it to score healing reduction on skills like Revenant's , but Freeze Grenade does more damage upfront so it's better for bursts.
- does very low damage and is mostly a defensive tool that
Blinds enemies, but it's still good for condi variety and proccing traits too.
- Even your healing skill is a minor source of burst damage in melee range:
- procs another elixir via trait synergy, granting you a total of 6 procs. Using a healing skill also triggers a lesser around you from traits, which could immediately consume the Vass stacks you've just built.
- This is quite useful for counterpressuring targets, sometimes even turning the tides against the one chasing you. Be warned though that the grenade proc could also end up accidentally breaking your
Stealth when you heal next to an enemy, which could actually endanger you on low health.
Sustain
- Elixir skills remove conditions, providing a steady stream of cleansing in combat.
- Your healing skill cleanses multiple conditions because it also procs .
- is the closest thing you've got to a mass cleanse, although it's not as simple as just pressing the button - you have to pick up the Med Packs by walking over them.
- If you're really pressured you could follow this up with . Being invulnerable makes it much easier to pick up the Med Packs, and the invuln also makes you stop taking condition damage while you grab the cleansing you need.
- is your time out button, use it to avoid burst damage if there's no other way out, or to extend your life at low HP. It also breaks stuns.
- is your other stunbreak, but as long as Elixir S is available you're free to use this skill offensively too for the
Quickness.
- Toolbelt elixirs are also quite useful - can give you
Protection while grants
Superspeed which is great for kiting enemies.
- The superspeed works even better when combined with skills that snare enemies, like or .
- Spear offers very little in terms of sustain, but at least and are mobility skills which you could use to quickly build some distance.
Ratings
Works great in 1v1s but can fold quickly when outnumbered, and doesn't really have the mobility to chase or run away. As far as objectives are concerned, this can quickly solo even T3 camps which is a plus.
