Outrider - Greatsword + Crossbow PvE Build

- High Sustained DPS
- High Burst Damage
- Squishy
- No utility
- Off-meta
Overview
This Greatsword and Crossbow build for PvE focuses on a mix of AOE and incredible single target burst damage and the ability to kill targets very quickly. It performs well in short dungeon encounters and is fantastic for open world PvE content such as field bosses, contracts or PvE Events and open world dungeon mob grinding. The build isn't particularly difficult to play and can be used successfully even by less experienced players.
Attributes

For this build, focus on increasing Perception and Dexterity to maximize your damage. These should be your primary stats, especially in the early stages. As you level up and upgrade your gear, keep investing in them to boost your critical hit rate, accuracy, and range. Strength and Wisdom should be secondary priorities. Strength will help increase your health and make you more durable so reaching 30 points is great to do, while Wisdom will aid in mana regenerationis but is the least important. Although these stats are less important, they still play a role in improving your overall survivability as you advance while also making use of Vital Force.
Skills

Focus on upgrading Quick Fire and
Mortal Mark as soon as possible.
Quick Fire is one of your main DPS abilities. The
Mortal Mark can mark a target and deal a percentage of the damage you've done to that target once the mark ends. This makes
Mortal Mark pair perfectly with any rotation. Additionally, consider upgrading
Selfless Diffusion for added survivability, especially in situations where you need to get out of a root.
Upgrade Valiant Brawl and
Stunning Blow to improve your rotation as they are used together most of the time. Since
Willbreaker starts as an epic skill, focus on upgrading
Death Blow to epic so it can deal even more damage to stunned targets.
Just like with the active skills, we don't use many low level passives, making the build considerably cheaper than other options and allows you to focus using the books you get throughout the main story on active abilities. However, do prioritize Ambidexterity for the added extra off-hand-weapon damage. You will mostly be using the Greatsword as your primary weapon and
Ambidexterity pairs perfectly with the high chance of activating off-hand weapon the Crossbow offers. Upgrade
Vital Force to enhance both your skill damage based on the amount of health you get from
Robust Constitution. Additionally, invest into
Cold Warrior, as it increases your critical hit chance and heavy attack chance after using
Stunning Blow, synergizing well once you transition into using either
Death Blow or
Guillotine Blade on the stunned target.
Equipment

These are the first items you should strive for through the leveling period as they are very easy to get and upgrade or trait as needed. However, you shouldn't try to trait these items too much as you won't be spending too much time playing with this setup before you start changing pieces into the Midgame. The green accessories however are very easy to trait as you can craft many of them quickly in order to get the correct traits so you should consider traiting them until you change into purples. The same goes for the blue ring as you keep it for a long time.

This is the gear you should transition to once you're leveled to 50 and start grinding gear. It is comprised of gear you can get either from dungeons or by completing Litographs, they are relatively easy to trait up and you will spend most of the time wearing this set before advancing into the late game so traiting these items is very important and should be your main focus.

This is the current endgame gear you should aim for, and while it isn't easy to acquire, it offers great power without the need of acquiring archboss gear pieces. However, items like Tevent's Fangs of Fury or other archboss weapons are superior but difficult to acquire for the majority of players. If you do manage to get the archboss weapons for your build, feel free to use them over the weapons shown here.

Crossbow: Invest 9 points into Chain Fire to boost damage output and increase your DPS. Invest the remaining 6 points into Move for heavy attack and better hit rate.
Greatsword: Invest 9 points into Face Off to improve your overall DPS and some added heavy attack chance, the remaining 3 points should be allocated into Incapacitate for some extra stun chance.
Rotations

- Start off with
Precision Dash to increase your Heavy Attack Chance before following up with
Stunning Blow to lock the target in place with the stun and improve your follow-up damage. Use
Willbreaker to further expose the defenses of your target before using
Mortal Mark and starting to stack up damage for it. Use
Death Blow and
Guillotine Blade while the target is still stunned before continuing with
Quick Fire,
Valiant Brawl and
Ascending Slash. Finish off any high HP targets with
Merciless Barrage!
Mana Exchange: Without many ways to gain back mana, this ability is of great help. Feel free to use this as frequently as the Amitoi Heal can keep you topped up with heals.
Selfless Diffusion: This is your main defensive ability that will stop you from getting pinned down by roots, letting you break free with ease.
Useful Information
- Select Lady Knight Kamarshea as your guardian; it offers essential protection with its shield, capable of absorbing damage equal to 50% of your mana. This not only aids in mitigating damage but also accelerates your cooldown speed, allowing you to use your abilities more frequently.
