{{Rotation|Low Level AOE Burst Rotation|Brutal Cleave, Whirlwind}}
{{Rotation|AOE Leveling Rotation|Shield Assault, Vengeance, Inciting Strikes, Desolate, Tomahawk, Slam}}
* While the rotation is incredibly easy to pull off, you should make sure to pull a group of mobs using your auto-attacks or using your bow to lure mobs more efficiently before using {{Skill|Brutal Cleave}} and {{Skill|Whirlwind}}. You can do this in the early game just after making your character, making it easy to level to 4 by simply AOE grinding the mobs in the starting zone. Keep in mind that once you unlock {{Skill|Climactic Whirlwind}}, you will have to angle yourself in such a way that the final hit hits multiple targets.
* This is your bread and butter AOE rotation that the Tank uses while leveling, particularly useful when luring and AOE farming lower or equal level mobs by yourself.

{{Rotation|Single Target Rotation|Blitz, Rupture, Lunging Assault, Overpower, Wallop, Lethal Blow}}
* Pull the mobs using the auto-attacks before positioning them directly in front of you. Use {{Skill|Shield Assault}} to gain Courage and then follow up with {{Skill|Vengeance}} to deal damage not only to the first mob you hit but also the mobs nearby. Continue the rotation by using {{Skill|Inciting Strikes}} then use {{Skill|Desolate}} and {{Skill|Tomahawk}} to deal extra AOE damage. Finish off the rotation with {{Skill|Slam}} if needed. Depending on mob health, you can also use {{Skill|Vengeance}} throughout the rotation to fill in and deal extra damage or to finish off the targets.
* This is your bread and butter rotation for single target DPS when leveling solo. Start with {{Skill|Blitz}} to build up quick Combat Momentum before continuing with {{Skill|Rupture}} to apply a bleed dot before transitioning to {{Skill|Lunging Assault}}.

* Continue the rotation with a hit of {{Skill|Overpower}} and then use {{Skill|Wallop}} to maximize the damage it does based on the amount of Combat Momentum stacks you gained throughout the rotation. The last skill in the rotation is {{Skill|Lethal Blow}} as its used to finish off a target with its high damage and also reset {{Skill|Blitz}} cooldown by using {{Skill|Reinvigorating Lethal Blow}}. Once upgraded with {{Skill|Consuming Lethal Blow}}, {{Skill|Lethal Blow}} also returns some of your HP and mana.
{{Skill|Reflect}}: Use this whenever the mob channels a hard hitting skill, allowing you to survive where otherwise you could easily die. Once you've gotten {{Skill|Refreshing Reflect}}, this will also restore your mana, acting as a great way to regain mana.

{{Rotation|Extended AOE PVE Rotation|Form Of Celerity, Battle Cry, Brutal Cleave, Cataclysm, Maim, Lunging Assault, Lunging Assault, Leap Strike}}
{{Skill|Aegis}}: Use this when in group after you make a pull and group mobs together if you lose aggro and party members take the aggro from you and take damage, this will redirect the damage to you and often save your party members from death.
* Wait for the tank to pull mobs and stack them up before you start the rotation! Spend this time making sure that you are in {{Skill|Form Of Celerity}} before using {{Skill|Battle Cry}} to buff yourself and your allies followed by {{Skill|Brutal Cleave}} which will apply the Staggered thanks to {{Skill|Form Of Celerity}}.

* Continue the rotation using {{Skill|Cataclysm}} to deal high damage and and trip the targets. However, if you have a mage in your party, pay attention and wait for them to freeze the mobs so the damage done by {{Skill|Cataclysm}} is increased. Transition into {{Skill|Maim}} for extra damage before using {{Skill|Lunging Assault}} 2 times then finish the rotation with {{Skill|Leap Strike}}.
{{Skill|Fortify}}: Use this only when you have a good amount of Courage stacks. Usually before pulling a big group of mobs.

{{Skill|Wall}}: Be careful when using this skill as it puts up a shield and can make it awkward for allies.

While leveling, make sure to also use the appropiate level consumables, starting with {{Item|Novice Scroll of Adventuring Experience}} at level 1 & {{Item|Apprentice Scroll of Adventuring Experience}} at level 10 before working up to {{Item|Journeyman Scroll of Adventuring Experience}} once you reach level 20. Level 20 is also where you can start using {{Item|Elixir of Constitution}} for extra HP, allowing you to tank more hits before going down. {{Item|Beef Steak Sandwich}} is a good choice once you reach the level requirement but you can start with {{Item|Fresh Salad}} in the beginning to help with leveling solo early by killing mobs faster.

Overview

With the Tank being the heart of any party in Ashes of Creation, this build focuses on tanking large groups of mobs and is much needed in all leveling parties. And while it might struggle with solo leveling and playing alone when compared to other classes, however, this build aims to make it so solo leveling isn't too difficult either. The Tank excels at group PVE content and that is the preferred method of leveling if you plan to play a Tank.

As a Tank, you rely a whole lot on your blocking and that for investing points into Sustained GuardSustained Guard is an obvious choices to reduce stamina drain while blocking (default key E). Adding Mental FortificationMental Fortification is also helpful, as it lowers the chance of being crowd-controlled (CC’d) while blocking, which can be situationally useful. However, the most important node you want to unlock as soon as possible remains the Empowered GuardEmpowered Guard as it greatly improves your blocking efficiency.

Once you've unlocked the right side of the Stamina tree, start unlocking the rest with Escape VelocityEscape Velocity to boost your movement speed while sprinting in combat (default key C). This becomes especially important later in the game, allowing you to kite mobs while waiting for cooldowns or to escape dangerous situations entirely if needed.

Next, invest in Recuperation Training and Evasive ManeuverEvasive Maneuver to improve your evasion rate while dodging. This also unlocks SpringstepSpringstep, which significantly enhances mobility by increasing the distance you can roll.
