Overview

The Elder's Rotcaller StaffElder's Rotcaller Staff build focuses on group PvE and is a high performer in Group Dungeons, Avalonian Dungeons, Hardcore Expeditions and Static dungeons. PvE focused Avalonian Roads trips can also use this build if they are looking for good DPS. Its unique playstyle requires a good understanding of the game and your build is rather reliant on your healer since you make use of the Elder's Specter JacketElder's Specter Jacket.

Keep in mind: Gear shown in this build is meant as a reference. Choosing the correct tier of gear is very tricky as there are many variables. Some of them being your budget, your spec and minimum Item Power requirements of your guild if used for ZvZ.

You should always check prices based on IP of the items. For example, a masterpiece quality 4.3 Elder's CryptcandleElder's Cryptcandle could be cheaper while providing roughly the same IP as an 8.0.

Usage

Elder's Rotcaller StaffElder's Rotcaller Staff

Cursed TarCursed Tar — Use this AOE on the ground after mobs are stacked. As it applies vile curse stacks with each second a mob spends on the tar, you can maximize the stacks you apply quite easily.

Cursed BeamCursed Beam — Use this ability after you've stacked a few Vile Curse Charges on your targets, as each charge will be consumed to deal bonus damage in a 4-meter radius around the enemy struck by the beam. Always try to align the beam to hit as many enemies as possible at once.

PlaguebringerPlaguebringer — A straightforward skill as it does AOE damage in a cone in front of the caster and also knocks back enemies, helping with CCing the mobs if needed.

FuriousFurious — Perfect for your constant auto-attacking between using your abilities.

Elder's Royal RobeElder's Royal Robe

Magic RuneMagic Rune — Place this rune on the ground as your first skill while the tank is gathering mobs. Be sure to notify your allies so they can position themselves within the rune to receive the buff as well.

AggressionAggression — This is your only good choice that increases damage

Elder's Royal CowlElder's Royal Cowl

Perpetual EnergyPerpetual Energy — This is the ability that helps a lot with your mana sustain and allows you to spam Ice ShardIce Shard without running out of mana. It has a rather long duration which allows you to use the entire duration of Mark of the RavenMark of the Raven.

Balanced MindBalanced Mind — You want to choose this passive for the damage increase.

Elder's Shoes of TenacityElder's Shoes of Tenacity

Blind SpotBlind Spot — Use this ability on cooldown to boost your overall damage. Keep in mind that it also makes you invisible to other players for a few seconds.

Balanced MindBalanced Mind — Yet another damage increase passive!

Elder's Demon CapeElder's Demon Cape

Opening to HellOpening to Hell — This ability creates a pool of lava beneath the mob you hit with your auto-attack, as long as the cape isn't on cooldown. Keep in mind that to activate this you need to auto-attack enemies and it can be tough NOT to auto-attack as to not trigger the skill early. The lava pool deals significant AOE damage to all nearby enemies, making it a valuable tool for boosting your DPS.

  • Start your rotation by activating Magic RuneMagic Rune stay on top of it to boost damage (it is also good if the rest of your DPS players also does the same). Follow up by using Cursed TarCursed Tar followed by PlaguebringerPlaguebringer for a burst of damage. Follow-up with an auto-attack to trigger Opening to HellOpening to Hell so you place a lava pool and deal extra damage to the mobs. Once you stacked up Vile Curses on the enemies, you can finish up by using Cursed BeamCursed Beam to blow up the Vile Curse charges and deal AOE damage to the entire group of mobs.

Consumables

Major Energy PotionMajor Energy Potion — Because the build is rather mana hungry, you want to use some sort of energy potion. Its best to use a t6 one as it offers 50% max mana regen coupled with 28% more over 7 seconds. Keep in mind that this potion ALSO lowers your cooldowns!

Beef StewBeef Stew — Very good damage boost but you can also use Pork OmelettePork Omelette for CD speed.
